Having created my blog almost 7 months back after thinking about it for close to 5 months, at last i decided to start blogging....of course it had another reason as well - had written to someone that i will be posting my views on Sivaji movie by this weekend :-)
last week i watched the movie in a theatre near to my place....i had to watch the movie in the evening since i had some official work during my night time. But friends who went for the night show had the best with crowd going gungho...
Coming back on the movie, it was an out and out Rajini movie. Of course, there are few elements that reminds us that this is Shankar's movie. Shankar has once again teamed up with the best in business - cinematography, music etc., but i do have reservations about Sujatha's dialogues though you find sparks of his witticism strewn all over...few were over board...
The editing was good in most of the parts but gave headache in stunt sequences..probably shankar was smart enough to hide the fact that some double is jumping for the hero...nonetheless it was a very good entertainer...the hype that surrounded the movie for the past two years, reached a crescendo just before release and has been sustained
The movie had all essential ingredients for being rajini's - a loving family that whole heartedly supports all his endeavours...someone whom he trusts decieves and becoming a pauper...again he coming back with vengeance and proving them wrong...shreya provides the love interest for thalaivar in this movie....though she looks good in few angles.. she fails to make an impression as an heroine..
Nayanthara looks shadow of her former self...too lean for what she was earlier doesn't suit at all...Solomon & Raja of SUNTV pattimandram fame have been wasted...instead seasoned artistes would have suited well....Uma Padmanabhan i wonder whether she had cramps in her face..no expressions....Suman has made a comeback to Tamil in this movie
After Anniyan, Vivek has once again got a spot throughout the movie and utilizes it well...The trademark Shankarisms are also seen like a graphics song, stunt sequences a la matrix and some intelligent heroisms...anti social aspect against which his hero fights as had been the case in his earlier movies...exception being boys...
Overall, the movie failed to live up to my expectations of a blockbuster in the range of Mudhalvan which had all the commerical elements but still counted up for being a good movie..
But our THALAIVAR hauls it on his shoulder throughout and am sure that this will become another milestone in the twilight of Rajini's career...

Hello "Chennai vaaasi", This is Sanjeevi theru vaasi!!! :-)
Let me be the first one to comment on your first blog. Me too saw Sivaji, last weekend.
I was stunned by the richness of the movie. After seeing Rajni as , Paalkaaran, Autokaaran, Coolie, Taxi Driver...etc.. This movie was a welcome change. Of course he did break the "humble background" formula in "Padaiyappa" and "Chandramukhi" but this movie was exceptional. As usual Rajni has proved that his sense of humor and timing is second to none and as good as professional comedians.
I was dumbstruck by the song sequences. I liked the song and picturization of "Athiradikaaran.." Rajni was awesome in it.
I also liked the way they mocked other films- both the dialogues and song sequences.
It is a wholesome entertainer. I would definitely watch it once again with my family....
And did you say that you had to work late night... enna pandrathu "kadai nilai oozhiyana" irundha idhan prachanai :-)
